One of my constant peeves is the idea that medical care _should_ be treated like a consumer good, when it really can't. My current example is more about the cray cray way in which we currently administer health care. Even if I wanted to be a "good" consumer, it's virtually impossible. Your comment, though, points to the larger issue that this is a cruel and insane goal. We say we don't, as a society, value people based on their money, and yet if health care is a consumer good, we must surely do exactly that.
