It was remarkably upsetting. It was disorienting, and designed to be so. I am reminded of the change for a 20 scam that I was warned about, when I first was a cashier. Each transaction seems perfectly reasonable, but it goes really fast, and the scammer walks away with way more money than the twenty he started with, basically by swamping the cashier with series of escalating proposals.
