As many of you know, Nate and Louie Bucklin have gone their separate ways. They have lost their living situation, and Nate is in a place where cats aren't really possible and Louie is still in flux as to a new domicile. This means that their two cats, Spackle and Grout, are in need of a new place to live. They are currently camped out in our cat-free zone (now known as the cat unfree zone) pending a complete set of tests and vaccinations. However, there really isn't any way that we can add two cats to our current collection. So while they can live here for several weeks, we really need to find a home for them. Louie says that she may want to collect them after she has a more stable living environment, but it is unclear if that will happen soon, and it is unclear to me if she will actually want to reclaim them even when she does have a more stable environment. I realize that this complicates things for people who might be considering rehoming the cats, but there it is.

They are litter mates, thirteen years old, and female. They are large and fluffy, grey-black and white with stripes, funny little faces, and allegedly sweet-tempered. At the moment, they are under the furniture, so it is difficult to report with certainty what their temper is like. Spackle (we're pretty sure it's Spackle) will let you reach into her safe space (under the papa san chair) and pet her, and seems to like it a lot. We have hopes she'll be out and about in the next couple of days. It will probably take longer for Grout, who is shyer.

If you know of a good living situation for these cats, please let us know. We have some people volunteering to help foot the vet bills (and thank you very much) and in a week or two they should be fully tested (including elder cat panel blood work) and fully vaccinated.

If someone would be willing to take them on on a permanent basis, but not on a contigent basis, my guess is that this would be possible. Some negotiation would be required, but I think that in the end, both Nate and Louie would prefer that the cats have a good stable home.

I believe that [livejournal.com profile] pameladeanis also going to look into some of the fostering systems available. Check her space for more info.
