I Graduated
May. 18th, 2010 11:38 pmToday was my graduation. I graduated with honors. I went to the commencement. David and Pamela and Marissa and Beth Friedman and Eric Forste were there. It was mostly waiting in lines, but it was kinda cool. When we came out of the rooms where they lined us up more or less alphabetically, the faculty was there and they cheered us. Gave me a misty moment. My teacher Chad was there and I gave him a hug. Mostly I like Chad, but he's a terrible teacher. I walked across the stage and got my rolled up piece of paper which was not in fact a diploma (I didn't think it could be, because they weren't checking the diplomas against the name called out and the alphabetization was only approximate), it was a congratulations plus a statement that I would be getting my diploma by July 30th.
I went out to dinner afterwards with Beth and Erik and Marissa and Pamela and David at Il Gatto, which is what Figlios has become. I did not order the lamb ragout, which I should have. I got to taste Beth's and it was delightful. I ordered the cavatappi, which was fine, but not splendid. Beth picked up the check, which was very nice of her. It was a fun time.
So, now I'm graduated. Now all I need to do is find a job. I have a job interview on Tuesday next for a place I can only get to by car. I need to buy a car. I have hopes for the job interview, though. If not that, then the next one. I'm nervous about taking a job. I don't feel like I have enough experience, but I suppose that's what you get while on the job. I also have to take my boards, which I can take in June for $450. At that price, I'd better pass the first time.
