First Quarterly Finger Report
Apr. 1st, 2014 10:33 amIt has been a quarter of a year since I damaged my finger. How's it doing?
Sigh with sigh sauce.
So, if it had been possible to compromise only the flexion, or the extension, but not both, I think this might be easier. I feel like I'm in a constant fight. When I wear the brace to straighten the finger, it gets stiff and doesn't want to bend. When I get the finger all bendy, it doesn't straighten worth shit.
I inadvertently ran an experiment over the weekend. I did almost no exercises for two days. (I was busy, ok?) I found that I had lost significant strength as well as flexibility. In two days. So very annoyed. Working on getting that back.
I still can't quite hold my hairbrush properly. While I can brush my own hair, the ring finger doesn't actually flex enough to grasp the handle. That's actually the only daily task that's compromised. So, I guess that's good.
It doesn't hurt, except when I do my exercises, or sometimes when I'm wearing the splinty-bracey thing.
So, I guess fair to partly cloudy. If this is all the utility I get back, it's completely liveable, but it's annoying. And I really wish I was seeing more day-to-day progress. And I wish that all the things that are good for me didn't hurt.
