Lady Is as Lady Does

Lady continues to eat a truly astounding quantity of food. I was noticing last night that even her tail has gained weight. She's now got a nice round little belly, and a layer of fat most places. Her vertebrae are properly shrouded, her rib cage not at all evident, her shoulder and hip bones no longer protruding. I suppose it's possible that her long period of food insecurity might cause her to become an incurable glutton, but I'm not worrying about that, now. Lady is clearly still getting used to the idea that there's more where that came from. Getting used to the idea that she is loved and cared for.

She came over to me right after I settled down to sit with her, but didn't stay long. I wondered about that. Before, she's been very, very companionable. It's always difficult to divine the motivations of felines, but I do wonder if she was feeling badly about how yesterday went, and was being careful not to put herself in a position where that happened again. After a long while, I called to her, and she came out from her chair-fort in the sun room, and upon invitation jumped up on the couch next to me for more petting. I was careful to only do face and chin rubs, since the previous times she's savaged me it has always been when I was petting her back or belly. She, in turn, stayed for about ten minutes, and then up and left. I think that we are being a bit cautious of each other, not wanting a repeat of yesterday. Or, maybe, I'm reading too much into her behavior.

I gave her nip on my way out. She was enjoying it as I left. She remains very pretty, and very sweet.
