I saw the hand therapist today. I have new rules:

Rule 1: No clicking

Rule 2: No bending without adult supervision

Rule 3: While indulging in bending under adult supervision (approximately three times a day), refer to Rule 1.

In order to enforce Rule 2, I have splints on my thumbs. For probably three weeks. I am, um, thrilled. Yep, that's the word, thrilled. On the plus side, I can crochet with my thumbs in splints.

Can you crochet thumb splints?

Well, I suppose I could crochet splints, then kind of coat them with plaster of paris and let it dry... These plastic splints are lighter, though. Mine would be prettier.

I have no idea what Rule 2 means in real life, but I hope the new rules are helpful.

In order to maintain range of motion, I am supposed to passively bend my thumbs three times a day, but not to the point that they click. First bend one joint, then the next joint, then a compound bend that bends both joints. Then, put the splint back on so that they can't bend.
