If you don't know what I'm talking about...no I can't explain. It would take too long. But Naomi Kritzer has a wizard idea: ribbons for Worldcon that say "secretly Chuck Tingle".

I would like to see this happen. Am willing to buy ribbons, if enough people are interested in wearing them. So, some questions:

If you are going to be at Worldcon, would you wear this ribbon if I gave it to you?

Do you want a ribbon even if you aren't going to be at Worldcon?

I think the ribbons should be rainbow colored, what do you think?

Anybody have a favorite provider for said ribbons? (Also, should they be the three or the four inch? I've never done this before.)

If anybody thinks this is a very bad idea, do please tell me. At the moment, I think it's genius.

We're not planning to be at Worldcon (with any luck at all, we'll be in China), bit I would certainly wear the ribbon if I could,

Yes.

Rainbow Ribbons sounds like a *splendid* idea.

If the ribbons are 3 or 4 inches long, something on the ribbon should assert that they're much larger than that... :-)

I think it is a genius idea, and congratulations to Naomi Kritzer (unless events have overtaken me).

Oh wow, that is a brilliant idea. I'm not going to be at Worldcon, but I'd wear one at Readercon and, like, the next six cons I go to, and I'd cheerfully distribute them to other people. Rainbow colors sound great. Bigger is probably better.

I will send you ribbons once I get them, if you like.

I have ordered them. Send me email with your snail mail addy, and I'll mail you some. Do you want "secretly Chuck Tingle" or "secretly NOT Chuck Tingle" or some of both?

I was thinking that a companion ribbon that said "definitely not Chuck Tingle" would also be fun.

I would wear either or both.

Both would be kinda meta.

Congratulations, by the way! I'm sad that "So Much Cooking" didn't make it, but I heart "Cat Pictures Please" so many, many times.

Not attending Worldcon, no clue what you are on about, cheerfully supportive of whatever you find genius.

Thank you. That made me smile.

Very short explanation: Vox Day tried to troll the Hugo voters by nominating "Space Raptor Butt Invasion" by Chuck Tingle. Chuck Tingle (an obvious nom de plume) has responded by trolling Vox Day. Fandom has alternately Watched in awe, and laughed until they had the hiccups.

By the way, I've been saving wishbones for you. I have a small, gruesome garland of them. Do you want them, still?

I want them very very much.

Shall we devise a time and place for me to collect them?

Yes, we should. I tried to send you email, but evidently my most recent email meltdown has lost your email addy, and this is easier than trying to sift. Sorry for the laziness. I'm working Sun - Wed nights this week, so some time Thursday through Saturday would be best. Send me email or respond here, we'll work it out. I don't think I have a dozen yet, but I'm working on it. A chicken a week adds up, you know?

I think it's a lovely idea, even though I find the actual wearing of ribbons to be somewhat annoying. Rainbow is good, if the text is readable with it.

That's a good caveat. I have definitely run across hard-to-read rainbow ribbons.

I'm thinking dark blue on rainbow is probably pretty readable. What I've seen that's really unreadably has been metallic gold or silver on rainbow, and that's always illegible. I get the temptation to go full-on glitter, but it's a mistake. I think a dark lettering should be nice and readable.

Excellent idea! I'm not going to worldcon, and I normally don't do ribbons, but apparently I haven't enough cool mementoes of awesome moments in fandom -- so yes, I would love one, despite everything.
