I am working on porting over my LJ to Dreamwidth, since it seem to be where all my friends are going, and LJ without yunz guys is kinda pointless. I'm using the importer tool provided by Dreamwidth. Any tips as to how this goes, what I should look for, what I will need to do manually?

Also, are there any mobile apps for Dreamwidth, like there are for LJ? I like to be able to check on my phone from time to time, and when I searched the Google Play Store, all it provided me was the ElJay app. Does this work for DW?

I really hate this. I hate learning new interfaces. But I hate losing track of my friends, more. So.

The importer tool mostly seems to bring over everything. What you'll need to do manually is go through your filters and add people's DW accounts, because what the importer tool does is add OpenID versions of people's LJ accounts to the filters. (That is, if they are logged into DW using their LJ account -- which is a thing that is possible -- they can see what's on the filter. What you want to do is look at the filter and see "oh, 'brooksmoses.livejournal.com' is on this filter, I'll add 'brooksmoses' as well.")

Currently, with the vast flood of people and the fact that LJ only allows DW a certain overall import rate, it's taking about 2 days for the entries to get imported, and something like another 2 days for the comments on them to get imported.

I don't use the various apps, so I don't know firsthand, but I'm told that the ElJay app works for DW as well.

With me, it was about a 72 hour process, start to finish. Post took about 24 hours, comments took about another 48 on top of that. Only thing I had to do manually was import icons. That was all because of the queue lengths when I started; your times may vary

According to a recent DW news post, there's isn't a DW Mobile App yet. They're currently working on some sort of dynamic site resizing tool as a necessary pre-req for a mobile app.
