Plague Diary: In Which I Buy Fripperies

So, I ended up buying the Aquarian Tarot and the New Palladini Tarot, because the art style really appealed to me, and I couldn't choose between them.  I was also entranced by the Hush Tarot ( https://www.etsy.com/listing/788646643/hush-tarot-cards-guidebook-set-oracle?ref=hp_rf-6&cns=1  but I don't feel that I could read with the deck, although I very much like the art.  

I was yesterday years old when I discovered that there is such a thing as an insulated skirt.  And then I found this:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/592028368/black-riding-skirt-for-winter-equestrian?ref=hp_rf-1&frs=1

So, yeah.  It's expensive, but Naomi Kritzer said that if I thought of it as a winter coat for my legs, it was reasonably priced.  So, yeah.

I think I have too much time on my hands, or something.  But I bet that skirt is fucking amazing.

That can happen. Tarot decks are markedly opinionated.

My only Tarot deck is done in a Japanese feudalist style. It's pretty cool, no idea where it is at the mo. We had an awesome store in Phoenix called Juttenhoops, just full of incredible things, and they sold a great and varied collection of Tarot decks. Actually, come to think of it, I think I have a standard Rider somewhere that I bought for an RPG called Fortune's Fool, it's a diceless game that uses the deck for all game resolution. And the game master never pulls from it! Quite an interesting system.

Insulated skirt sounds like a capital idea! Even though I'm in my third week of "working" from home, I'm wearing my flannel-lined cargo pants. I'm still freakin' cold!

Last night, unable to sleep I realized with great joy that I could PUT ON SOCKS and no one would stop me. I fell asleep very shortly after that, toes all nice and toasty.

I keep on rediscovering socks as a technology. I wear sandals all the days I can, and the change to sock weather is always hard on me.

I wear ankle socks to bed all the time.  We're talking 365 here.  My wife doesn't complain. We had our first decent snowfall a few nights ago, and Wednesday night it got down to 7f.  Right now I'm bloody cold and contemplating turning on the oven to add some warmth to the house!

No one ever complains if I wear socks to bed, I just never remember until I am lying there, unable to sleep, and suddenly realize at least one of the reasons is that my feet are painfully cold. I hate being cold. I would genuinely prefer to be too hot. 7 F is fucking cold. (It is gorgeous and 43 here, and if I weren't being super careful, I would totally go for a bike ride. But I am being super careful, so I am watching the light wane with envy and sadness.) If you go the oven route, do be careful!

Yeah, 7f is bloody cold!  For some reason, my tolerance for cold has abandoned me this year.  I was much better previous years, should have my thyroid checked. Our stove is electric, so no big worries there.  I just want to be careful not to be running it too long, and I usually run it at its minimum, 170, or at 200.  Bring the house up to 68 or so.  We don't have central heating, just electric space heaters.
