First Day

So today was my first day at Minnesota Lung/Sleep Institute. It went fairly well. I need to get better at scoring studies, but I knew that. I scored too much N3 sleep. A lot of it was N2. And I need to get better at noticing arousals. Both of these were known issues. Stuff I need to keep working on.

The first two hours was going over employee stuff. My health insurance doesn't kick in for 90 days. Sigh. Oh, well. I've gone this long without insurance, I'm sure I can manage another three months. If only I were sleeping better. It may be the long years on sleeping pills, but I have a terrible time falling asleep and staying asleep lately. So unlike my view of myself.

I liked my supervisor. I liked my pretty blue scrubs. Tomorrow I will wear the pretty green scrubs. And a lab coat, because it was rather chilly today.

I don't like driving to work. I don't hate it, but I don't like it. Tomorrow will probably be icky, because we are supposed to get Weather. It was raining when I left work today. It's supposed to continue to do that until midnight, at which point it will turn into snow. Oh, boy. I'm so looking forward to tomorrow.

It'll be interesting in a week or so to see what working for a living is like. It's been so long. School is work, but it is not the same. And frankly, I never worked as hard at school as I would have had I had a job. It's just not the same time or energy investment for me. Hopefully, I'll remember what working for a living is like and it will be fine. I expect it will be. Just different, is all.

One thing I really hate about working: wearing a bra. I know that most women are more comfortable with one than without one, but that has never been the case for me. And I've just gone three years without wearing one, except for special occasions, like a job interview. On the other hand, I really like my scrubs. I really like wearing scrubs. Easy to coordinate, cheap to buy, easy to launder. I bought (after being overwhelmed by the choices) scrubs in Caribbean Blue (a lovely dark blue color) and Hunter Green. We're supposed to wear something crew neck under them because they are (heaven forbid) V-necked. (Sigh. They are not in the least revealing.) I have decided to wear my black t-shirts underneath. I have a variety, with all sorts of things on them. Lots of stars and planets. But that won't show, just the black crew neck bit. So that's all right then.

Huh. I have to do this again tomorrow. How interesting.
