Arghhh

So, I decided that I would cook dinner today. I'm not thrilled about cooking after having worked a full day, but it seemed like the mature and adult thing to do. And occasionally, I try to be an adult. I got home slightly before David, and if it wasn't me it was him, and all in all, it seemed only fair. So, I slice and I chop and I sautee, and I go to put in the two teaspoons of thyme that the recipe called for. The thyme jar has a trace of thyme in it. Not even an eighth of a teaspoon. Arghh. Pamela checks the upstairs kitchen, there is no thyme there, either. Arghh. Turn off the sauteeing vegetables. Put on shoes. Walk to the corner store, grumbling all the way. I thought about going into the basement to ask David if there is a substitute for thyme, but reasoned that there really is no substitute for thyme. Besides, this is the only spice that the recipe calls for, and it seems like it would be a little flat with nothing. The corner store does not have thyme. Arghh. I had taken money from my purse, but not my driver's license, so it's back home again to get my purse, so I can drive to Cub, which I do. They do have thyme. So I buy some, come home, start the vegetables sauteeing again. David comes upstairs as I add the thyme to see what's going on. I explain. He says, "But the thyme is in the dining room in the bag from Thanksgiving." Arghhh.

But dinner is now in the oven, and we'll see how it turns out. It's lentil cassoulet. David usually makes it. This is my first time. Hopefully, it will be worth it. Even if we can't eat until 9:15. Arghhh.
