Quick Update
Nov. 26th, 2007 12:36 amJust in case you've been wondering, I've been doing very well in college so far. It helps that the classes are not very challenging, or at least, I don't think I would have found them challenging at 18. At 45, things look very different, and I have to work to keep up. I am, however, getting As in all but one of my classes. I don't like going to school all that much, but I love getting grades.
Intro to Psych still has the chance to go south. There's a comprehensive final which counts for a significant percentage of the grade, and I worry about being able to dredge up material from the beginning of the year. There's also a group project that's in the toilet. I'm going to meet with my professor tomorrow to try to fill in for something that one of the other people in the group should have done. Eight a.m., no less.
Human Biology and I are getting along fine. My latest quiz (they are weekly) was 100%, and I've gotten 100% on the two major tests. There's one more test and three more quizzes. If I just stopped now, I might pass, I haven't figured out the points. But past performance suggests that I get an A out of this course.
Human Biology Lab, on the other hand, I'm getting a B in. I'm better in theory than in practice. Much of the tests are practicals, like looking at a model of a human leg and identifying the muscle that has the foil star on it. I can memorize what the muscles are and what they do, but I find it much harder to memorize where they are and what they look like. The skeleton was easy in comparison.
Intro to Algebra continues to go fairly well. I don't get perfect tests or quizzes, which annoys me. Usually it's little stuff, most often a simple arithmetic error. I am getting As, though, which is nice. I've missed handing in at least one assignment -- the teacher was a little vague about the assignment. Still, I'm not forseeing any trouble upcoming. The final is comprehensive in this class, too, but I'm not real worried about it because math builds on itself. I'll want to review a bit, but I feel confident.
School is really all that's going on in my life. So now you know.
