That's right, Fourth Street preregistration is still open. And in fact, it's been extended to May 31st! Register now! Best fantasy convention on the block. (That's actually a riff on an old cartoon by I don't remember who. It's got a place with a sign, "Best Pizza on Earth" and there's another place with a sign in bigger type and flashing lights that says, "Best Pizza in the Galaxy" and a small place with lots of people going in and out with a modest sign that says, "Best pizza on the block.")

It's going to be lots of fun. Elizabeth Bear is our Guest of Honor, and she's bringing Sarah Monette with her. In addition, there'll be a significant number of the Scribblies, including Steven Brust, Pamela Dean, and Pat Wrede. It's a single track of programming, so that the panels can develop as conversations. There will be parties and readings in the evening.

[livejournal.com profile] elisem, who makes beautiful jewelry, is hosting a fancy party and reading Friday night. She's having refreshments and readings from some of the artist challenge pieces. (The artist challenge pieces are pieces of jewelry which inspired poetry or stories. She's gathering a number of those into a chapbook which will be for sale at the convention.) The readings will be from the challenge pieces. There's more descriptions on her LJ.

For more info on the convention, go to www.4thstreetfantasy.com

When is Fourth Street? What is the cost of registration now? What will it be after May 31st? How would I go about registering if I was interested in doing so? Where is it being held? Are all these questions answered on a web site somewhere?

1. Open web browser to Google
2. Type in "Fourth Street Fantasy"
3. Stir lightly and marvel about living your life in the time

And I would bother to do this when the chair of the convention doesn't provide this basic information why?

Because it's going to be a great convention and worth it to work around a chair who's a flake when it comes to publicity.

Which is why I asked, and asked directly. (I apologize for the passive aggressive tone in this following question.) Flaking on stuff like that makes people on the fence or just not enough in the know have a sense that the convention isn't very well organized. Heck, it might even lead someone to believe that it won't happen.

I suggest making a habit of pasting the con URL into every message you send about the con; even if you are 100% sure that everyone that will see it already knows.

I live too much in my own little world.

Fourth Street is June 20-22, at the Holiday Inn Select Airport (the hotel that Marscon and Convivial were at). Preregistration is $40, at-the-door $60. Save $20, register now! The easiest way to register is to go to our website and use the PayPal option. www.4thstreetfantasy.com You can also mail in your registration to 3721 Blaisdell Avenue S., Minneapolis, MN 55409. There's a printable form on the Web page for that option, too.

Thanks for asking.

Yes, GFGFIing works pretty well.

To be more helpful to Peter (since I'm on the committee and all), $40 until May 31st, $60 at the door. The convention is June 20-22, at the Holiday Inn Select (same as Convivial, Applecon, and I think Marscon recently).

I'm hoping to come, but I doubt I'll have the cash for a membership before the end of May. I know I won't have it before tomorrow (the original pre-reg deadline), so I do appreciate the move.
