Lost a clown loach, this morning. Last night, I found him lying on his side, gills moving quickly. Now, loaches are known to terrify their owners by taking naps on in positions that only dead fish and loaches can achieve, but his color was dreadful, and the gills were moving far too fast for him to be healthy. I put him in the hospital tank with the two neons. Dead this morning. This is the third loach I've lost. The first vanished all together, the second did something very similar to what this guy did, and now this guy.

Guess we ain't the champions, today.

Loaches and other bottom feeders tend to not like medications. Some of them are also both delicate and aggressive jumpers. Still, it is sad when they die.

So, transferring him to the hospital tank might have killed him? Damn. I don't think he'd have lived until morning in the 20 gallon, either. He definitely looked like a soon to be dead fish. Loaches seem to die rather suddenly, or at least whatever it is that's killing them affects them rather suddenly.
