So, the nice doctor agreed that I had been sick for long enough, and that I probably didn't have strep throat. He gave me an antibiotic and Vicodin. Score! The nice man at the pharmacy said that I shouldn't use the Vicodin while driving or at work. Which limits its usefulness somewhat, but otherwise sounds promising. The problem with the antibiotic is that it can't be taken with dairy. Which sounded fine, until I remembered my daily cappuccino. Oh, noes. I must drink regular black coffee! How will I cope.

Meanwhile, I took my first Vicodin an hour ago, and my throat still hurts. Not a lot, but still. So, what gives? I was hoping to be cheerfully and comprehensively out of it by now. Oh, well.

Maybe I will have a popsicle. That's what the nurse suggested for sore throats as a way of pushing fluids. Which I need to do with the antibiotic, supposedly.

Drugs, good. Hope I start feeling better soon, as I am deeply, deeply bored with being sick.

Well, I know what I would do - make my cappuccino with a non-dairy "creamer" product (the liquid kind, not that awful powder). I must confess, I kind of like Cremora French Vanilla. But even if you don't really like it, you might like it better than harsh black coffee.

Popsicle sounds like a good idea. Except that it seems to be unexpectedly AUTUMN out there today! That's not popsicle weather!

I'm so glad you got something to help. It seems like doctors never give me Vicodin or something else good when I'm in serious pain. I never understand why. So I'm glad they gave you some of the good stuff. I hope you feel better soon.

Strangely, the Vicodin seems to be a complete bust. Not only does my throat still hurt, but none of the recreational aspects appear to be present, also. You know how sometimes pain killers don't kill the pain, but you just don't care? Well, it doesn't kill the pain, and I do care. Fortunately for me, the pain is not really serious, but this is annoying. Actually, it's starting to weird me out. It responds, mildly, to ibuprofen, tylenol, codeine, and vicodin, but about the same to all of them. That is to say, a little but not enough. The only thing that really helps, as it turns out, is sucking on popsicles. Which is fun, but which one can't do all of the time.

I don't actually understand why they gave me Vicodin this time, to be honest. It's very nice of them, but I remember the fight I had to get codeine for my menstrual cramps, which were much worse... Different doctors, I guess. So weird. I didn't exaggerate about the pain, even.

Sucks about the Vicodin not working.
