Kittens have totally leveled up again
Dec. 11th, 2012 11:41 amSo, in the past couple of days, the new kittens have made two simultaneous discoveries. The first is that being petted and cuddled feels good. The second is that if you go sit on a large monkey, petting and cuddling will occur. So they are now being catastrophically affectionate. The only thing cuter than a tiny cat curled up in your arms is two tiny cats curled up in your arms (preferably chewing on each other's heads).
Ninja has slept with me two days in a row. The day before yesterday, Nuit also slept with me, but yesterday, it was just Ninja. Ninja may be the more people-oriented of the two, but it's kind of hard to tell.
They are currently having the run of the back of the first floor, but not allowed into the basement (or, obviously, the cat-free zone). This means that they can run the long hallway from the sunroom which serves as my study into the media room, about half the length of the house. Oh, how they love to do that. I had to move the food and water out of the path of the flying ninja kittens, since they kept on knocking them over.
We've tried, twice, to introduce the big cats to the kittens. In both cases, the big cats were...unhappy. Naomi is annoyed, and occasionally acts like the tiny kittens are about to eat her. She growls and hisses, but will interact with humans tolerably normally if no kittens are near. Arwen, on the other hand, lies in a puddle of misery near the door leading to the basement, refusing to move, hissing at any kitten that comes close, but otherwise just huddling miserably. I feel so bad for her. Ninja would really like a big cat to hang out with, and keeps on approaching Arwen or Naomi with hopeful trills and generally looking happy and friendly. At which point, my older girls hiss at him and he backs away, undaunted, to try again in five or ten minutes. Nuit is generally friendly, but not so focused on being friendly to the big cats. There has not been any serious outbreak of hostilities, though, so I have hopes. In the mean time, Arwen and Naomi are living in the basement, and sleeping with David (and whoever happens to be sleeping with David that night) and getting quite a bit of attention. I just wish they'd be nice to the little kittens.
Meantime, to bed to bed. Maybe a kitten willl come sleep with me. Or maybe not. They seem to be in some sort of serious World Wide Wresting Mania thing, lately. Chew on all the heads! Knock over all the things! Bouncs on everything in sight! Chew on more heads!

Tarry a while, said Slow.
Put on the pan, said Greedy Nan, and we'll sup before we go.
Love to you.
