Otherwise known as, I believe we have achieved peace in our time.

So, the little kittens are now 5.3 pounds a piece. And the big kittens, at roughly twice their weight, are either resigned, or maybe even pleased at their presence. In general, we can have all four of them in a room, or even on one bed, without any undue stress. Arwen will still hesitate to get up on DDB's bed when there are little kittens directly in the way, but will often screw up her courage. (Teeny, tiny, terrifying kittens. You can see why she hesitates, being more than twice their size and all.)

I have not seen this, but Pamela has: Ninja and Naomi have _romped_. Pamela was holding Ninja, and Naomi came prancing up, chirruping and meowing with her tail held high. Ninja, understanding that this was an invitation, jumped down out of Pamela's arms, and the two of them went rocketing up and down the corridor together. Nor has this been the only time. Naomi has always been the more playful and the braver of the two sisters. Pamela also reports having seen Arwen and Ninja rocketing down the stair together in a playful fashion. I cannot tell you how enormously pleased this makes me.

I have seen Arwen shrug off Ninja's various attempts at being playful. He'll run up, wrap both front legs around her neck, and chirrup. She just moves away. No hissing. No flinching. No scowling. Just moves away. This is so far beyond her initial response that I'm amazed.

There's still occasional hissing. They are, after all, cats. But this is all of the good, and I am happy.

Triumph!!

I am reminded of Smokey's early days with us, when she was so small she could literally be held in two cupped hands. Mickey was our big male, as large and heavy as 7 or 8 Smokeys, at least. And she would chase him around the house, with him running frantically from her. It was hilarious.

I'm glad that things are working out. Smokey and Venus have never become friends, and Smokey will even hiss at poor elderly Dusty.

Naomi frequently appears at the upstairs kitchen door with her kitten posse. I doubt that's how the kittens see it, but that's how it looks from the monkey viewpoint. It's really funny.

Glad the cat situation has improved. My Pejou (http://www.speakeasy.org/~lennyb/images/pejou.jpg) has no competitors at my house..
