From the lab report: "Excision of this benign neoplam of apaocrine sweat gland origin appears complete and should be curative."

Other odd bits: "Receiveds is a 3.7 x 2.5 x 0.7 cm ellipse of haired skin and subcutis." That sounds kind of...big, for a cat, you know? That's evidently the sample size. The cyst was evidently a "semifirm, ill-defined 1.0 x 0.5 cm cavity that contains a clear fluid." On a microscopic level (and I have no idea what any of this means): "mass composed of neoplastic basaloid epithelial cells arranged in nests, cords and ductules with a central cystic space. The cells have scant eosinophilic cytoplasm and ovoid to elongated nuclei with stippled chromatin and small nucleoli."

So, the actual take away is that it was cancerous, of the benign sort, not the type that spreads, they probably got it all, and she's good to go.

The doctor didn't remove all the stitches. She hasn't healed enough, yet. I have to go back in a week and they'll take the rest out. Dr. McMenomie said, "She's an old cat." So, I guess healing is slower because of that.

I have no idea how she did it, but she totally figured out she was going to the vet today and refused to come out when I came home. I didn't make the mistake of setting out the carrier first. I had DDB put it in the cat free space last night. But man, she was hard to catch this morning.

We got home about 20 minutes ago, and she promptly hid. However, just at the moment she's on the floor of my bedroom expostulating. So it may not be a real long time before she forgives me, this time. We shall see. On the other hand, she's just now left the bedroom. She's clearly not pleased with me.

Ah, cats.

I'm not used to seeing "benign" and "neoplasm" together, but I'm very glad it's good news.

Good News

But at least she's telling you that she's not pleased with you. I'll take the pool slot that covers half an hour after dinner....

Hooray for benign!

I know this is belated, but in fact, it only took her two hours to forgive me. She's a funny little beast. Currently curled up at the foot of the bed. She makes me smile every day, even the days when she's ignoring me.

Whew. Good news! Odd, but good. And, y'know, odd's our second nature and we'll gladly take good.

I suspect Jinx used kitty radar to tell Arwen about today's vet appointment. Probably in thanks for Arwen doing the same last week when Jinx didn't follow a single bit of her morning routine despite the fact that I followed mine...for hours and hours.

I look forward to hearing when you're back in her loving graces. Until next week, anyway.

"Should be curative" seems fairly definite. Poor Arwen, I'm sorry you have to go back.

Did David tell you about what your BOY-CAT got up to while you were at work?
