Does anyone know what the Hallmark code for 17 years, is?

Seventeen years ago, at 3:00 p.m., I set down my bags in Peter Larsen's apartment and said, "I am never moving again." I've been in the Twin Cities since. Last month was the anniversary of the 24th year I've lived in the Midwest. More than half my life, now.

I don't wonder about how things would have been if I'd gone East like I had intended. It's an unanswerable question. This life has been the one I've got, and the each year has been better than the past. Admittedly, for a bunch of years that wasn't saying much. However, who knows how it would have been elsewhere? There is plenty of room for it to have been far worse. The point is, here I am. No matter where you go, there you are.

That surprises me. I'd have expected that you'd been living in the Twin Cities longer than I have (I arrived in February of 1985).

It's the longest stretch I've ever lived in one place, too.

And no, I have no idea what the Hallmark code for 17 years is. I have no idea what the Hallmark code for anything is - first time I've ever heard of it...

Don't know about Hallmark, but somebody thinks seventeenth anniversaries call for a new timepiece.
