lydyThis is what I posted privately shortly after the Mnstf meeting on September 21st. Had I been writing for the general public, I would have phrased things slightly differently, but I am not going to go back and edit.
If you are wondering why I am posting this, it is because Louie has been saying odd things about that meeting, and Nate's behavior, which are as far as I can tell, non-factual. She may be describing her experience, but her subjective experience is not congruent with what I observed. I would also like to note, publicly, that she is gloating about having access to Nate's second journal, the nate_bucklin journal, which she obviously knows she is not supposed to have access to. At least, I am inferring the gloating from her subject header, which is "Teehee".
So, here is my post:
Much to my surprise, Nate and Louie were at the Mnstf meeting today. Even more surprising, Louie was utterly unexceptionable.
The first thing Nate said to me was, "I was afraid you wouldn't be speaking to me." I told him I would always be speaking to him. Later, when Louie was out of earshot, I told him that he would always be my friend, even when he did things that I thought were stupid. He said that he'd like to say the same thing, but that he didn't think I did stupid things. There was some rueful laughter, and I assured him that I did, indeed do stupid things. Kind friends helpfully agreed.
Louie did not bird-dog Nate. He was able to move about freely, and talk to people privately. Louie talked to people in a generally polite and friendly fashion. She got into at least one conversation on her own with Carole Vandal. There may have been others. Everyone was polite to her. The people that decided to avoid her did so in non-obvious ways, at least as far as I could tell.
I didn't engage much with her, though I didn't avoid her. I did laugh at one of her jokes. She made a point of telling me a story about being wonderful and kind to someone. Nate chimed in at this point about how wonderful it was when someone he really liked hit it off with Louie. Perhaps this was pointed, perhaps not.
It may have helped the drama quotient significantly that his sister Alison and Carol Eschweiler had already left by the time they got there. Evidently neither of them knew that Nate had gone back to Louie.
Nate and Louie bought memberships for Fallcon, and are planning on going. I hope that whoever used the sane gas at the Mnstf meeting remembers to use it at Fallcon.
Really, they looked like a normal, happy couple. Nate looked especially happy. It's always nice to see Nate look happy. I don't think this will last, but just at the moment, things look good.

He lies, he cheats, he says whatever he has to to get what he wants, though he often needs to steal those words from someone else. You don't have to lower yourself like this, Carol. I don't especially like you, but I didn't dislike you until now. Save your rancid wit for Nate; he likes that sort of thing.

I was merely verifying Lydy's perception. I said nothing bad about you and nothing good about Nate. There is no wit in it; my final sentence is meant literally.
I don't think anyone "deserves" to get beaten. I don't think that either of you, and particularly James, "deserves" the things that have happened. I don't think our social group "deserves" to be dragged into this. But here we are.
You didn't dislike me till now? Even when you accused me of being in the August 2012 group? (For the record, not only was I not there, I didn't know anything about it until you asked me to meet with you.)
