Nuit is home from the vet. She now weighs 5.8 pounds, or did before her surgery. She looks chipper and happy, and is jumping up on things, even though she probably shouldn't. They said that the other cats might not recognize her and it would be best to keep them away, but she was clearly looking for her brother when she got home, so we let him into the media room where she is sequestered. He obviously recognized her, and his idea of how to deal with the fact that she smells wrong is to wash her until she smells right again. They remain incredibly cute together.

We are not letting the older cats in, right now. She can't have anything to eat until tomorrow morning. Poor baby. And no toys on sticks for two weeks. I despair of actually keeping her from running around and generally being active, but I'm not going to contribute to the delinquency of a minor.

I'm happy she's home. I try not to worry, but you know, surgery.

If the pain killers have worn off and she still wants to jump around then I say why not?
When I was a kid (1965, 66?) our cat was spayed and came home ate a full can of cat food (twice her normal amount) escaped to the outdoors and caught the only chipmunk of her life, with no issues.(all this with stitches) If the surgery is purrrrrfict than all is well and that is what this sounds like.

I'm glad she's doing okay.

Progress!

He obviously recognized her, and his idea of how to deal with the fact that she smells wrong is to wash her until she smells right again.

Perfectly sensible plan. Also, awwwww.

Hooray for being home from the vet!

I know it's less of a big deal when boy cats are fixed, but Inky was carrying on and jumping up on things not long after coming home. And they let me bring him home the same day because he woke up faster than they usually do post-surgery. I found the more I tried to limit his movement, the more he wound up leaping and stuff. I wound up mostly just keeping track of what he was up to because efforts to foil his plans seemed to make it worse. Obviously, YMMV.

Glad you let Ninja see her right away, he was surely worried and would know her and be relieved by her return.
